This week Councillors returned from their Christmas break to a special meeting to discuss Community Councils from across the Region.
The Highland Council will be asked to agree to the draft proposals which will alter the boundaries for a number of Councils across Highland and also the membership. With members views sought on how to focus efforts at ensuring higher numbers of interested Community Councillors being elected onto local Councils.
Speaking in Inverness, Cllr Marckie said "I have sought the views of Community Councillors from across the Far North in the run up to this meeting and there is some concern about the boundary changes which will result in the amalgamation of two Councils in the West of the County".
"This will be an important debate and I hope we can move forward with positive proposals to ensure that local people are content with the geographical remit of the Community Council, whilst also ensuring that they become more attractive to locals wishing to serve their community."
